Fail Hard Quote

failure

“Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success.”  ~ Thomas J. Watson

This quote couldn’t be more true.  No one ever makes it on their first go out of the gate (while maybe one or two But all of the most successful people in the world will tell you that failure is a neccessity to success.  But it is so hard to accept this.  … Read the rest

Work Life Balance Quotes

work life balance rocks stacked up

Every now and then go away and have a little relaxation.  To remain constantly at work will diminish your judgment.  Go some distance away, because work will be in perspective and a lack of harmony is more readily seen.   – Leonardo DaVinci

This is a beautiful quote about work from one of the greatest geniuses to ever live.  Leonardo DaVinci is widely regarded as one of the greatest inventors, artists, designers and scientists of all time.  His body of work throughout life is varied and extensive.  There is no question that he was someone who was able to be incredibly passionate about his work and had the motivation to accomplish so much.  But even DaVinci, who accomplished so much in his life gives the advice that one needs to take a step back from work every so often just to relax. … Read the rest

Success and Failure Quotes

Success over failure

“I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.” ~ George Burns

Doing something you love in life is an integral part of a happy life.  If you are really, really good at something, you might excel at it and become a huge success, but if that activity doesn’t make you happy or make you feel good then what is the point?  Sure, you will be successful – but to whose standards?  People might respect you, but if you don’t respect what you are doing, or have a passion for it then it is simply a waste of your time.

What if you are thinking, I don’t know what I love and I don’t hate doing what I am doing. … Read the rest

Start Now Quotes

start now quote on paper

“A year from now you will wish you had started today.” -Karen Lamb

This quote made me laugh the other day because I had been thinking about a project I had wanted to start and I thought, why didn’t I start that a year ago?  So, Lamb’s advice is to start that project today!  What have you been putting off?  We all have to-do lists that seem to never end, but I bet there is one thing that you have been procrastinating on for some reason and you know the task is important.

This is what Lamb is talking about.  It is not doing the dishes or remembering the laundry.  It is the thing that you know you want to do but aren’t starting it. … Read the rest

Quotes on Succeeding

Macchu Picchu

Aim for the top. There is plenty of room there. There are so few at the top it is almost lonely there.

Samuel Insull

This is so true – but I wouldn’t know how lonely it is at the top because I’m not there!  What Insull meant with this quote is that you should never be afraid of aiming for the absolute top when you dream.  Why not? Why limit yourself?  Very few people in life have the moxie to fully realize their dreams and not limit their growth or potential by anything.  It is hard to believe in yourself to that degree, but by the same token, what have you got to lose?  In other words, what is the point of limiting your dreams, or not going for your dreams fully?… Read the rest

Winston Churchill on Courage

Clouds and Sky

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts
Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill said these true words about persistence and optimism.  Everyone fails at some point or another in life, and it is the ones who can bounce back, and keep trying that are able to succeed in the end.  One of the most legendary baseball greats of all time, Babe Ruth, had more strikeouts than any other player in baseball.  But he also had the most homeruns.  If he had let all of the ‘failures’ he suffered detract him from trying to swing for the fences, he never would have been able to hit so many homeruns.

Modern science and positive psychology now confirm that optimists are more likely to be able to bounce back from failures, as they have the ability to see that one failure is only temporary and inevitable. … Read the rest
