“Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go” – Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde always comes up with such zingers. I know one thing. If I had ever met him in real life, I wouldn’t have wanted to get on his bad side.
Everyone hopes that they are one of those who cause happiness wherever they go but how can you know? All of us have known someone that is like this. Generally well loved by everyone, friendly, kind and funny. Those are the characteristics that I would give to someone who would fit in this category. But everyone is different in what they think makes a really likeable person.
But a good exercise is thinking of a person that you know or a famous person who is generally well liked for their personality. … Read the rest
It’s just Facebook, I wish people would keep it real and stop frontin.
This quote is so true. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve seen stuff on facebook that I know is not true! It is so amusing when you see something on facebook that never happened or that you know is false. And people will constantly update their profiles with every little thing that they do to make their life seem more awesome than it is.
People tend to have the tendency to write only the best things about their lives – which is a good thing, or else Facebook would be quite the downer. But this gives you the impression that their lives are so much better than your life which is hardly true.… Read the rest
“Never be afraid to laugh at yourself. After all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century.”
~ Dame Edna Everage
This hilarious quote is so true in your day to day life. Whenever you take yourself too seriously, you are always missing out on the fun of life. If you behave properly, orderly or professionally all the time, and never let yourself relax and be yourself outside of those roles, you are really missing out on what a joke life can be sometimes.
Think about the last time you really, really embarrassed yourself in public. How did you react? Did your face get red, and you made your exit as fast as you can or did you laugh hysterically and make a joke about yourself. … Read the rest
“The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you.”
- John E. Southard
This is kind of a funny quote about revenge. Southard doesn’t believe in getting even with those who have wronged you but rather, to pass along the kindness back to those who have helped you. It is a stark contrast to people who believe in getting even with those who have wronged you.
People can wrong other people all the time, sometimes without even realizing it. Most often, those who have wronged you didn’t do it on purpose, or they are just imperfect beings like yourself who make mistakes. It is better to put your energy, not into seeking revenge to those who have crossed you, but into helping those who have helped you. … Read the rest
“Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is.” Sir Francis Bacon
This quote on imagination illustrates one of the dichotomies of being human. We all have an imagination which lets us be anything we want and we also have a sense of humor for when reality lets us know that we are not super human.
Often, people want to be and do it all and our imaginations might make it so that we believe that those things are possible. We may be a little too optimistic about what we can take on, what we can do and who we can be. However, when we take on too much we invariably can’t do it all and then we may consider that we have failed. … Read the rest
