What Emerson meant by this quote is that people who go after things and see opportunities where others don’t are the ones who are going to be successful in life. Opportunities are everywhere, and there are so few people who can think outside the box enough to see them. This is true of all innovative and imaginative people. They rarely climb up the corporate ladder job by job, until they are the CEO, they start the company!
