“Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.” – Earl Nightengale
This quote is so true. I find that most of the people I know including myself are always fretting over the little things in life and missing the big picture. How amazing life is! I bet right now, you are probably thinking if I were richer/prettier/more famous/had more friends I would be happy. Well you are not alone. Practically everybody wants something more and thinks that they will never be happy until they get it. But what a horrible waste of life. What if you never get it? Will you be unhappy forever?
Why don’t you take a moment to really consider what you want. Will it really bring you happiness? Why? How will it change you life? Why will that make you happier?
Usually these kinds of questions will help you see that whatever you desire is really a cover for something that you can have right now by changing your perspective. Do you want money so that you can have nice clothes and look nice? If so, go to the second hand store and get creative! Do you want to be prettier because you think that you will find love easier that way? Realizing your blessings and being positive will attract true love into your life. What about being famous? Being nice to people and being kindhearted will win you more adoration than any reality show ever could.
There are always ways to be happy in life, at this very moment. So throw out whatever it is that you think you ‘need’ to be happy and start living life!
